We’d like to invite you to submit short papers or presentations for the 2nd Distributed Autonomy for Space Systems Workshop, which will be held in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Space Mission Challenges for Information Technology (SMC-IT) and the Space Computing Conference (SCC) from Mon 28 July - Fri 1 August 2025 at the California Science Center, Los Angeles, California, United States.

The workshop encourages submissions that advance the state of the art in autonomous distributed spacecraft systems with novel concepts of operation, previews of early-stage and work-in-progress, application domains and requirements, or demonstrations.

Call for Participation

Please submit short (4-page plus references) papers, draft slide decks for 10-12 minute presentations, or demonstration descriptions by March 28th for single-pass review with acceptance notification on April 25th.

Original research and innovative solutions in the following technical areas are particularly of interest:

  • Distributed Resource and Task Management: Present novel approaches and technologies enhancing the efficient allocation and execution of resources and tasks within distributed spacecraft systems.

  • Reactive Operations: Explore advancements in reactive operations, addressing real-time decision-making and adaptability in response to dynamic mission environments and unexpected events.

  • Modeling and Simulation: Share insights into the development of scalable models and simulation tools for evaluating and validating autonomy algorithms in DSS/DSM configurations.

  • Human-Swarm Interaction: Discuss research on the interaction between humans and autonomous spacecraft swarms, focusing on user interfaces, collaborative decision-making, and human-in-the-loop autonomy.

  • Ad Hoc Network Communications: Present advancements in communication infrastructure for distributed spacecraft systems, addressing challenges in reliability, efficiency, and adaptability.

Submissions can be made through the SMC-IT EasyChair portal, here https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=smcitscc2025 Be sure to select the “2nd Distributed Autonomy for Space Systems Workshop” track when prompted. Paper templates for LaTeX, Word, and Overleaf are available from IEEE here.
